CHANEL ambassador and actress Go Youn-jung graced the June digital cover of <W Korea> with CHANEL fragrance. Go traveled to Grasse in the south of France to experience firsthand the cultivation and harvest of May rose, a key ingredient in CHANEL perfumes.

Grasse is the birthplace of perfume and an iconic place where many of the key ingredients for CHANEL fragrances are born. In this pictorial, Go follows CHANEL’s fragrant journey from flower to perfume, encountering May rose—one of the signature ingredients of N°5. The CHANEL farm in Grasse that Go visited is run by the Mul family, which has maintained an exclusive partnership with the House of CHANEL since 1987, and is a place imbued with the heritage and craftsmanship of CHANEL fragrance-making.

Together with farm owner Joseph Mul, Go experienced the early-morning harvest, when May rose holds its freshest scent, and came to appreciate its singular value. She also met CHANEL in-house perfumer Olivier Polge and was introduced to “Les Exclusifs de CHANEL,” launching June 16—among them, “N°5 Extrait de Parfum,” the pinnacle of CHANEL fragrance. They spoke about the craftsmanship embodied in CHANEL perfumes, the House’s philosophy of carrying that value forward, and the creative process that runs from raw ingredients all the way to the perfume bottle.

Go Youn-jung’s CHANEL journey in Grasse—filled with the warm sunshine of southern France and the fresh scent of May rose—will be unveiled in <W Korea> Vol.7, with a range of digital content available on W’s website and its official Instagram and YouTube channels.
