Actor Yeo Jin-goo graced the cover of The Star Magazine's New Year's issue for 2024.
Under the theme 'New Season, New Breath', Yeo Jin-goo captivated the fans at once with his previously hidden tough look and a witty, enchanting atmosphere in this photoshoot.
Yeo Jin-goo, who recently made a special appearance in the Korean-Singaporean joint movie "Ajumma," shared, "It's a rare opportunity to greet my fans overseas with a good project, which led me to join 'Ajumma.' Initially, I wondered if I could take on the role of a Hallyu star, but then I thought, 'If not now, when will I ever get the chance?'"
Recently appearing in the hit movie "Noryang: Sea of Death" (also known as "Noryang"), Yeo Jin-goo expressed his heartfelt gratitude for playing the role of Admiral Yi Sun-sin's youngest son 'Lee Myeon' in the last of director Kim Han-min's trilogy about Admiral Yi Sun-sin. "Even though it was a brief appearance, I'm grateful for the opportunity to experience emotions and moments I've never felt before. At first, the special appearance felt a bit like a leisure trip, but as I did one or two shoots, I started to take it very seriously.""The characters and projects I took on as special appearances all held great meaning, so I approached the filming with much seriousness," Yeo Jin-goo shared anecdotes about his cameo roles.
Reuniting with actor Kim Yun-seok in "Noryang" after working together in three films - "Hwayi: A Monster Boy", "Tazza: The Hidden Card", and "1987" - Yeo Jin-goo expressed his special affection for Kim Yun-seok. "I've always felt a special emotion towards senior Kim Yun-seok. I received a lot of praise from him in our first project together, and interestingly, since then, I've played various roles from a disciple, to an enemy, and even a son. Every time I see him on set, it seems he looks at me differently and cares for me a lot. I would love to work with him again anytime," he said with great affection.
Yeo Jin-goo, who has been walking the path of acting since 2005, said, "It's very difficult to pick just one project that I have special affection for. Each one is precious and meaningful. The movie 'Sad Movie' was a very special project in my life, and the drama 'Giant' confirmed my desire to act for life and be an actor. However, I hope everyone understands that I hold a lot of affection for all my works."
Regarding his interests outside acting, Yeo Jin-goo mentioned 'production'. "I love the Korean film and drama industry and participating as an actor is great, but as I age and my experience builds, I would like to contribute to the industry through production work." His favorite nickname, he said laughingly, is 'Jin-goo Oppa'. "I've been hearing it since I was young, and it's funny how some mischievous younger brothers and older ones would call me 'Oppa' as well."
When asked about how he wants to be remembered by the public, Yeo Jin-goo responded, "I want to be known as an 'actor without limits', with a broad spectrum of roles, capable of handling a variety of characters and always sparking curiosity with each new project and role."
Finally, Yeo Jin-goo said, "I'm currently working hard to prepare for my upcoming film 'Highjacking'. I hope you look forward to it, and I am also preparing for other projects to greet you with."
