The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that it will hold the '2024 F/W Seoul Fashion Week' from February 1st (Thu) to 5th (Mon), offering a sneak peek into the 2024 fall and winter fashion trends, with the first release of the group poster of Seoul Fashion Week's ambassador 'NewJeans'.
This 2024 F/W Seoul Fashion Week will consist of ▴21 brand fashion shows (15 at DDP, 6 at Seongsu E-Factory) ▴A trade show with 68 brands and about 300 domestic and international buyers (including 100 from 14 countries overseas).
This fashion show will increase the participation of young brands with high global growth potential and extend the stage to 'Seongsu', the mecca of fashion. The trade show will include 68 clothing and accessories brands, including those participating in the fashion show, and key domestic and international department stores, boutiques, online malls, showrooms, and specialized fashion investment firms will all gather in one place.
Compared to last year, this fashion show is being presented six weeks earlier. With growing global attention to K-fashion and an increase in buyers visiting Seoul Fashion Week every year, the plan is to run the fashion week ahead of the four major overseas fashion weeks (▴New York ▴Paris ▴Milan ▴London) to heighten interest and focus from global fashion media and major buyers.
To increase focus on 'Seoul Fashion Week', this time the poster was created in a 'pictorial' format featuring all members of the ambassador 'NewJeans', wearing the collection of brands participating in the 2024 F/W Seoul Fashion Week (▴Hanna Shin ▴July Column ▴Elkin). The plan is to link the attention focused on the style of NewJeans, who have a global fandom, to the recognition of K-fashion.
NewJeans was selected as the ambassador for Seoul Fashion Week in February 2023 and continues in this role this year. NewJeans will promote Seoul Fashion Week and K-fashion brands to global fashion people by appearing in seasonal pictorial posters (group, individual), and videos.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government plans to sequentially release various pictorial posters and videos (▴official promotional videos ▴short-form ▴interviews ▴making films) on Seoul Fashion Week’s YouTube (@SFW_official) and Instagram (@seoulfashionweek_official), starting with two types of NewJeans group posters, before the event opens, and will conduct various events.
Meanwhile, the Seoul Metropolitan Government is holding a citizen participation event to attend the 21 brand fashion shows during Seoul Fashion Week, which will take place from February 1st (Thu) to 5th (Mon) for five days. Applications can be made on Seoul Fashion Week's official Instagram from January 16th (Tue) to 24th (Wed) for nine days, and 200 winners will be selected through a lottery. Winners will receive QR entrance tickets sent to their registered mobile phones from January 26th (Fri) to 29th (Mon).
Furthermore, from January 12th (Fri) to 29th (Mon) for 18 days, applications for domestic and international buyers for the trade show will be accepted via the Seoul Fashion Week website (www.seoulfashionweek.org). The trade show will not only facilitate order consultations but also offer insights into the upcoming season, collaboration opportunities with fashion brands, and networking among buyers.
Kwon So-hyun, head of the Seoul Metropolitan Government's Beauty and Fashion Industry Division, said, "Through Seoul Fashion Week, we hope to identify this year's trends in our fashion industry and confirm the competitiveness and strength of our K-fashion in the global fashion market. We will continue to develop Seoul Fashion Week into a global fashion business platform that trendsetting fashion people and buyers from around the world want to visit."
