Korean leading designer brand ‘SONGZIO’ unveiled its 24FW collection ‘NIGHT THIEVES’ on Friday, the 19th at Paris Fashion Week. It dramatically presented the beauty of order and chaos coexisting in Eastern and Western aesthetics, as well as the beauty of darkness and brilliance. Known for his dramatic staging and overwhelming scale each season, Songzio captivated the dark night of Paris with this collection, as the title suggests.
More than 500 fashion insiders and celebrities from around the world attended Songzio's 24FW Paris Collection, drawing attention with its overwhelming scale. Attendees included representatives from Vogue, Dazed, GQ, WWD, Dust, Numéro, and other famous global fashion magazines, as well as officials from France's top three department stores – Printemps, Galeries Lafayette, and La Samaritaine – along with renowned celebrities, artists, and sports stars.
The collection titled ‘NIGHT THIEVES’ portrayed SONGZIO's ANTIHERO, the night thieves. They control the uncontrollable night, which is quiet yet noisy, eerie yet mystical, and dark yet shining.
The 24FW collection began with a painting depicting Prometheus, who is being punished for stealing the hidden fire from the gods and giving it to humanity.
Prometheus, meaning 'the one who thinks ahead', brought light to the darkness by giving fire to mankind, heralding civilization and the future. However, this act also stole our night and brought chaos. This collection, seeking to dramatically depict such an antiheroic protagonist, emphasized the unique Eastern silhouettes of Songzio, creating a three-dimensional and elegant silhouette and volume with sharp angles and graceful curves.
Additionally, the collection showcased avant-garde fashion with Songzio's unique PLATING technique, layering multiple fabrics symmetrically or asymmetrically. The garments, which resemble armor when still but flutter dynamically in motion, presented an unconventional artistic fashion.
SONGZIO's 24FW collection skillfully utilized a variety of fabrics including rough and multicolored textured wool, thin and elegant silk, and specially processed technical fabrics to create artistic textures and avant-garde silhouettes. Particularly, following last season, the use of thin, translucent organza attached like wings on the back left a lingering glow behind the resolute steps of the night thieves traversing the dark paths.
This season, SONGZIO's identity was highlighted with the black of darkness and vibrant colors fitting the antiheroic protagonists. Intense reds standing out in Prometheus's painting, and the golden yellow piercing through deep darkness, completed the dramatic collection.
Songzio introduced various accessories to maximize the cult-like mood of this collection. These included tall and round hats made of light yet sharp rabbit fur, large furry gloves reminiscent of beastly hands, cummerbunds enhancing physicality with PLATING technique, barrel bags made of coarse yet subtly shining fur, modernized traditional Korean rubber shoes as Songzio's signature footwear, and BLACK EYES jewelry capturing Songzio's black eyes. These diverse accessories dramatically portrayed the heroes of the collection.
Following last season, Songzio showcased a collaboration with the global sports brand REEBOK, drawing attention in the Paris fashion world. The collaboration shoes, combining Songzio's avant-garde design with REEBOK's dynamic style, are set to release in June 2024, generating anticipation in the fashion world both domestically and internationally.
On the evening of the 19th, after the show, Songzio held a party at SILENCIO club designed by world-renowned filmmaker DAVID LYNCH, celebrating Songzio's 24FW Paris collection and the upcoming launch of the Paris flagship store, continuing the excitement of the collection.
Founded in 1993, Songzio, representing Korea as a leader in K-luxury and K-fashion, is aggressively expanding globally with outlets in world-famous department stores like Paris' Printemps and Hong Kong's Harvey Nichols. Domestically, it operates over 70 offline stores including Galleria Luxury Hall, Shinsegae Gangnam, and The Hyundai Seoul, growing as a global fashion house representing Korea.
