On February 2, 2024, Patagonia Korea, an eco-friendly global outdoor sports brand, will release the 'Black Hole Collection', a bag made entirely from 100% recycled material, from the fabric to the coating process.
The 'Black Hole Collection' by Patagonia features products known for their versatility, available in various sizes and shapes with excellent storage capacity. Since 2019, every part, including the outer and inner materials and webbing, has been made with 100% post-consumer recycled materials, marking a step towards more environmentally friendly products.
In 2022, for the first time in the outdoor industry, Patagonia introduced a collection part of the 'Black Hole Collection' with matte recycled TPU coating for fabric finish, used for abrasion resistance and waterproofing. This season, the Black Hole Collection significantly expands the range of items with recycled TPU coating, moving closer to Patagonia's goal of phasing out petroleum-based materials.
In this way, Patagonia continuously strives to minimize the environmental impact through material improvements. Moving beyond waste utilization, the brand plans to apply dyes extracted from recycled Yulex, a material from Patagonia's recycled wetsuits, in various products starting from the SS 2024 season as part of a new resource circulation program.
The flagship products of this collection, the 'Black Hole Pack', were released in sizes of 25L for everyday backpack use and 32L for business trips and travel. Both products feature a comfortable air mesh back panel that provides excellent breathability. The main storage compartment, along with top and side pockets, are separately divided for efficient storage of belongings, and they can accommodate laptops up to 15 inches in size, making them highly versatile.
The 'Black Hole Duffel' is available in four sizes, ranging from 40L to 100L, making it an ideal product for long-distance travel, backpacking, and camping. Additionally, the collection includes the 'Black Hole Cube' for easy separation and storage of small items, and the 'Black Hole MLC', a travel bag with a classic suitcase design.
All products in the Black Hole Collection are made in Fair Trade Certified factories, contributing to the improvement of the living conditions of the production workers. Since 2014, Patagonia has been expanding the proportion of products made under Fair Trade Certification as part of its corporate social responsibility.
