The Korea Fashion Industry Association held a board meeting and a general meeting at the Textile Center on the 23rd, where they deliberated and passed the business plan and budget for 2024.
Regarding the business plan, briefings on fashion industry development projects such as cultivating global brands, manufacturing infrastructure innovation, digital transformation, and expanding export through inter-stream cooperation, all supported by government funding, were presented along with member services programs like the Global Fashion Forum, issue conferences, customized education, consulting, and activities to propose external policies for the protection of member and fashion industry rights, member expansion plans, and domestic and international intellectual property response plans.
Considering the ongoing unstable economic situation both domestically and internationally, the association has decided to extend the measure of reducing the membership fee by 50% to lessen the burden on members, and despite reduced finances due to the fee reduction, they announced plans to further expand expenditure in popular member service areas such as forums, seminars, education, and intellectual property, which have high satisfaction ratings.
In the general meeting, Vice Chairman Seong Rae-eun of Youngone Group was appointed as the 15th chairman to lead the association for the next three years, unanimously recommended by the nomination committee as the successor to Chairman Han Jun-seok.
Chairman Han Jun-seok, at a board meeting held on December 18 last year, announced the formation of the nomination committee and requested the nomination of an excellent individual to lead the association with new leadership. Following his refusal to be reappointed, the nomination committee conducted several meetings among about ten candidates and ultimately selected Vice Chairman Seong Rae-eun of Youngone Group as the final candidate.
Vice Chairman Seong Rae-eun, appointed as the 15th chairman of the Korea Fashion Industry Association, stated, "I will inherit and develop important missions such as globalization of K-fashion, innovation in K-manufacturing, and transition to a digital ecosystem to enter the global TOP 5 of Korean fashion. I will contribute to raising the status of the fashion industry by working organically with the government, related organizations, and associated streams to create members' rights, and I ask for the active cooperation and support of the members to fulfill my role as chairman."
