Louis Vuitton unveils two specially crafted medal trunks and torch trunks for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics.
This is part of the 'Creative Premium Partnership with Paris 2024' between LVMH and the 2024 Paris Olympics, where Louis Vuitton has designed and produced two medal trunks to carry the Olympic and Paralympic medals, and two torch trunks for the respective torches.
The 2024 Paris Olympics Louis Vuitton medal trunk, covered in monogram canvas, is designed to protect the medals crafted by Chaumet, another LVMH brand, using the lock and brass components that have been a feature of all Louis Vuitton trunks since the 1850s. Inspired by the 'Malle Coifuse', a signature Louis Vuitton item, the medal trunk has two wings and drawers capable of holding a total of 468 medals.
The Louis Vuitton torch trunk, embodying 170 years of travel art philosophy, was designed by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur. This trunk transforms into a case for displaying the torch when the socket connected inside is flipped, revealing an embossed 2024 Paris Olympics logo. The exterior of the torch trunk uses the Damier canvas introduced by Louis Vuitton in 1888, and all components are identical to those of the medal trunk.
The two trunks embody the dedication and effort of Louis Vuitton and its artisans towards perfection, a core value and principle shared with all athletes competing in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Through the medal and torch trunks for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics, Louis Vuitton shares the value that "Victory travels in Louis Vuitton."
Since creating the trophy trunk for the America’s Cup in 1988, Louis Vuitton has been presenting trunks for the world's top sports events for over 35 years, including the FIFA World Cup™, Ballon d’Or®, Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco™, Australian Open, Roland Garros, Davis Cup, League of Legends, NBA Championship, and Rugby World Cup.
