The global leading sports brand Adidas has announced the extension of its official sponsorship contract with Lee Jung-hoo, who recently joined the prestigious MLB team San Francisco Giants.
The extension contract Adidas has signed with Lee Jung-hoo is for 6 years, which, when combined with the partnership agreement signed in January 2019, totals a long-term contract of 11 years.
With this contract, Lee Jung-hoo, who has been sponsored by Adidas until 2030, was already well-known as the 'Grandson of the Wind' since before his professional debut, being the son of a KBO League superstar. Despite the pressure from excessive attention since his rookie years, Lee Jung-hoo has overcome every moment of pressure, growing into a top-tier player in the league, and has proven his worth by successfully making it to the Major Leagues with the San Francisco Giants.
Lee Jung-hoo expressed his thoughts on the extension of the sponsorship contract, "I have always been happy to be with Adidas since my time with Kiwoom Heroes, and I feel good to share the news of the contract extension ahead of the main season of the Major Leagues" and added, "The Major Leagues will not be easy, but I will continue to grow and advance by enjoying baseball and believing in myself."
An Adidas representative stated, "We have provided unwavering support since signing our first sponsorship agreement with player Lee Jung-hoo in January 2019, assisting his growth into a top-tier player in the league. We are pleased to extend the sponsorship once again and will actively support Lee Jung-hoo to continue performing splendidly as a world-class player in his baseball career."
Adidas plans to strengthen its leadership in the domestic and international baseball market through this contract with Lee Jung-hoo. As a start, they have released the 'YOU GOT THIS' campaign video featuring Lee Jung-hoo. The video, which includes stories of baseball players overcoming immense pressure during games and Lee Jung-hoo's supporting role, can be viewed on the official Adidas Korea social channels. On the 29th, in collaboration with NHN Bugs, they will release a playlist curated by Lee Jung-hoo in 'essential;' aimed at encouraging those facing pressure.
Meanwhile, Lee Jung-hoo is set to play his opening game at Petco Park in San Diego, California, on March 29.
