Louis Vuitton unveils ‘Deep Time Chapter II’ as part of its high jewelry collection.
This collection, designed by Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton's Watch & Jewelry Artistic Director, is her fifth high jewelry collection and illuminates a millennium from the birth of the planet to the beginning of life. Deep Time Chapter II consists of 10 themes and 50 pieces of jewelry, featuring special gemstones for a new interpretation and design.
Deep Time Chapter II begins from the time when our planet was composed of two supercontinents, Gondwana and Laurasia. Following Gondwana introduced in Chapter I, Chapter II features ▲Laurasia, brought to life with Louis Vuitton's signature V motif combined with yellow diamonds and contrasting metals, and is the most representative piece of this collection, taking 2,465 hours to create. Additionally, the collection includes ▲Myriad, which expresses a mysterious movement like the wave form of DNA, and ▲Drift, which holds the meaning of the origin of life.
The newly introduced theme, ▲Symbiosis, is inspired by the creation of the earth's first terrestrial ecosystem and organisms, and is represented by delicate and lavish jewels in beautiful pastel pink and purple spinels. ▲Skin, also a new theme, showcases a unique blend of pink and orange tones with pink gold, highlighting the Umba sapphires in a contemporary and graphic design.
▲Plants, which represent the green flora, can be worn in various styles and are realized as a necklace set in the shape of leaves, set with over 400 custom cut emeralds and diamonds. The collection also introduces ▲Fossils, illustrating the growth of plants, along with themes like ▲Bones, ▲Seeds, and ▲Flowers.
Francesca Amfitheatrof, Louis Vuitton's Watch & Jewelry Artistic Director, emphasized that "this collection is the second chapter of Deep Time, continuing the narrative of the most beautiful and poetic collection that symbolizes a vast and great storyline."
